I contacted Hp and i am out of warranty and they will not tell me anything unless i payup 49 dollars as service fees.CAn i use a pirated vista and use the licnese key on my laptop ?I am lost i dont want to pay 49 dolalrs for service feees or 249 for new vista what to do ?
Thank you for the swift response I was dumb enough not to see if the hard drive was coonecting properly to pins .. and you know what I was missing the plug in that goes into the connectors this i realized when i tried to do a diagnosis on hard disk nad it not detect a hard drive

You should be healthy to get away with that, as long as the VISTA versions are the same, If your licence is for home basic and you try to load business premium then the key won’t work.

You could try any boot CD to format your new drive, then try the HP restore again. If nothing will format it, you might need to go into the BIOS and re-detect the hard drive, or you might have a faulty drive.

there seem to be lots of people out there with the same problem, just google the error number.

  1. this problem is caused by the chipset still seeing a active partition on the hard drive , the only way i have ever been able to fix this problem is to use a product such as boot and nuke to wipe the hard drive clean , then the reinstallation of windows seems to work flawless
